David McCourt, chairman and CEO of RCN Corp. in West
Windsor, will be honored with the 2004 Gold Medal
from the American Irish Historical Society, an award
previously bestowed on President Ronald Reagan, author
Mary Higgins Clark and musician and human rights advocate
Bono.
A resident of Hopewell, Mr. McCourt recently executive
produced a documentary for “What’s Going
On?”, an ongoing series that examines the impact
of global conflict on the lives of children around
the world. The documentary, hosted by Meg Ryan, concerns
the impact of violence on children of Northern Ireland
and will air on Showtime Family Zone. A special screening
for the film was held at the United Nations in New
York City, and was attended by U.N. Secretary General
Kofi Annan.
Mr. McCourt has founded 10 companies in three countries,
and has been an innovator, entrepreneur and business
leader across the construction, communications and
media industries. He lives with his wife and children
and owns a horse farm in County Clare, Ireland.
